Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we get asked.
What is TRX/HIP/Barre?
We have a comprehensive class types page here however these are the 3 classes we get asked about the most.
This stands for Total Resistance eXercise and utilises straps and handles. It's a high intensity class designed to build strength.
This stands for High Intensity Power and is a Pilates class that challenges rather than retrains the body. We layer traditional Pilates movements (waist twists, side reaches) onto planks, lunges and squats.
A low impact but high intensity class consisting of small, precise movements performed at the ballet barre or on the mat. It is set to up tempo music and is designed to burn out various muscle groups in turn to build strength and tone.
What should I wear on my feet for classes?
Pilates (HIP) + Yoga (Vinyasa)
Barefoot OR socks/grip socks
Barre, Pilates (Mat), Pilates (Springboard) + Ballet
TRX + Sweat classes
We have trial Ballet and Tap shoes if you would like to borrow them for your first class. Just make sure you email the studio in advance with your size.
How much are the classes after my trial has finished?
This depends on:
1. The types of classes you enjoyed:
TRX + Pilates - Springboard
Pilates - Mat + HIP, Yoga, Ballet, Tap, Sweat classes, Barre
or, if you enjoyed them all, choose a Combined pass!
2. How many you want to buy:
Each class takes either 3 credits (45 minutes) or 4 credits (60 minutes) from your pass.
You can buy just 3 or 4 credits or in greater quantities; 20 credits (5 hours), 40 credits (10 hours) or 60 credits (15 hours).
The more you buy, the longer you have to use the credits up and the cheaper it is per class.
Visit our prices page for a detailed breakdown.
How many spaces are there in each class?
Barre, Ballet + Tap
Pilates (Mat + HIP) + Yoga (Vinyasa + Yin)
Can I share my credits with my friend/partner/housemate?
Family members and partners can share 5, 10 or 15 hour passes. Friends + house mates cannot share passes.
No one can share a 10 day trial.
What should I wear for classes?
We suggest wearing comfortable clothing you can move in.
In some classes you might get sweatier than others so at first we recommend layers e.g. vest + light jumper.
For Yoga (Yin) we suggest warmer clothing + socks as you hold positions for a long time. For Yoga (Vinyasa + Power) and Pilates (HIP) we suggest tighter clothing e.g tops that won't fall over your head in certain positions.
Do you have any adult kit for sale?
Yes; we currently sell hoodies, raglans + leggings for adults.
What class can my X year old do?
We assign children to classes based on ability rather than age, however there is a general guide under each of our class descriptions here.
Each student is different and we offer free trial classes for each genre so that teachers can assess the suitability of the class for each individual.
Please fill in the registration form here to start the process.
The questions have been compiled based on our prior experience. Your answers give us the information required to suggest the most appropriate class. We will then work closely with you to work out what is best for your child.
I had a back/knee/shoulder injury and my doctor said I should do some exercise. Is there anything you'd recommend?
This very much depends on your injury.
Pilates (Mat) is the safest and lowest impact class we offer. Barre is also excellent for hip/knee/ankle alignment and strengthening as well as being low impact.
Please call or email the studio (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like further advice so we can consult with our instructors and suggest the best class for you.
